The goal is to allow you to open documents in the application you have installed on your computer - which is the purpose of the app.

Download

1. Download the installer from the links below, depending on whether your operating system is Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS:

https://NAME OF YOUR FIRM.singlecase.app/liveEdit/electronDownload/windows

https://NAME OF YOUR FIRM.singlecase.app/liveEdit/electronDownload/mac

Installation

2. Start the installer and the installation will be done automatically.

On macOS, you need to drag the file into Applications and then right-click SingleCase in Finder - Applications and select "Open" and uncheck the security notice.

Note: When installing a service application update, first close any open documents and exit the service application via its status icon; see section 4.

3. Once the installation is complete, open any document from SingleCase.

Note: In Chrome you will see a confirmation prompt beforehand:

To prevent it from appearing every time, check the checkbox.

4. The document will now open in a few seconds and the icon of the running service application will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen:

5. If you make changes to the document and save it, the service application sends them to SingleCase and you are notified of the success of the changes by a notification on the bottom right:

Note 1: We use the SnoreToast tool to display these notifications - so don't worry if you find SnoreToast.exe in the Start menu in the Recently Added section after installing the service application.

Note 2: If you are using Avast Ransomware Shield, access to the service application's working folder may be prevented:
C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\SingleCase desktop client\downloads\file_edit
To function properly, you need to unprotect this component. Instructions can be found here.
